All security personnel operating in California must be officially registered with the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS). To apply for a position with Cooper Security & Consulting, you must meet the following minimum state requirements:
- Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years of age.
- Initial Training: Complete an 8-hour "Power to Arrest and Appropriate Use of Force" training course from a BSIS-certified facility before submitting your application.
- Background Check: Pass a criminal history background check through the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) via Live Scan fingerprinting. (Find a Live Scan location here)

- Continuing Education: Once licensed and hired, you must complete an additional 32 hours of mandatory security officer skills training within your first 6 months of employment.
